Outstanding Graduate, Spring 2026
Liah Klin Abrahamov
Liah Klin Abrahamov sees the world as a system, and she’s determined to optimize it.
“I want people to know that industrial engineering isn’t just about machines,” she says. “It’s about optimizing the way the world works by improving how people, technology and information interact.”
That perspective didn’t come from a lifelong plan. Liah discovered industrial engineering almost by chance, but everything clicked after taking a work analysis course. One day, stuck in a slow-moving line, she caught herself mentally redesigning the process, identifying bottlenecks, reworking the layout and optimizing flow. That’s when she knew she had found the right path.
This spring, Liah graduates from the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence, part of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University, with a degree in industrial engineering and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. She has been named an Outstanding Graduate for her academic excellence and hands-on impact.
Her work extends beyond the classroom. During a summer internship, Liah tackled operational inefficiencies by applying Six Sigma methodologies to improve workflow. Through detailed time studies, she identified redundant tasks and excessive movement between workstations, then redesigned the facility layout and standardized procedures to eliminate wasted effort. She also conducted a cost-benefit analysis that justified new equipment investments, ultimately improving throughput and reducing bottlenecks.
Liah maintained a GPA above 4.0 while earning recognition, including the New American University President’s Scholarship, the Andy Grove Scholarship and consistent placement on the dean’s list.
Mentorship has also played a defining role in her journey. She credits Daniel McCarville, a Fulton Schools professor of practice, whom she worked with as a teaching assistant, for shaping her approach to engineering and leadership.
“His dedication to both the field and his students’ success influenced my own approach to the discipline,” Liah says.
After graduation, Liah will continue her studies in the Fulton Schools through an Accelerated Master’s degree program, pursuing an advanced degree in industrial engineering. This summer, she will also complete an internship with TSMC, gaining hands-on experience in a global technology environment.
As she builds her technical expertise and explores new applications of industrial engineering, she is working toward a future that may include both industry and academia.
