Outstanding Graduate, Spring 2026
Blayn Saucier
Blayn Saucier has always had a love for protecting the environment. Through her classes, she also discovered a passion for workplace safety, occupational health and industrial hygiene. She is grateful to have found a degree program that aligns with areas she is excited about in the environmental and resource management program, offered at The Polytechnic School, part of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University.
She feels that the field of environmental health and safety is misunderstood and is much more than a compliance checklist or regulations that must be followed. It’s about prevention using science-based controls.
“What I want people to know is that protecting our environment and workplace safety go hand in hand,” she says. “The efforts of this field safeguard our future, ensuring the sanctity of the spaces we inhabit for generations to come.”
Saucier credits her career choice to Michael Breu, faculty associate in the environmental and resource management program as he inspired her to become a certified industrial hygienist.
“He truly cares about his students’ future, and his passion for industrial hygiene is contagious in the classroom and at professional events,” she says.
Saucier found leadership opportunities that were meaningful to her career path, such as her role as ASU student liaison with the Arizona chapter of the American Industrial Hygiene Association. She enjoys connecting students with professionals in the field and recognizes the importance of the insight and knowledge these mentors can provide. Her goal in this role is to provide students with the same mentorship experiences she had.
After graduation, Saucier will be starting an exciting new position as a full-time health, safety and environmental engineer II with Honeywell Aerospace at their global headquarters in Phoenix. Additionally, she will be pursuing a graduate degree in industrial hygiene this coming fall. Her long-term goals include advancing research in the field to further protect worker health.
In looking at her time at ASU, she is most proud of being able to complete her degree on the dean’s list all four semesters while balancing independent research, working in the field and her personal life.
“As a transfer student with a non-traditional pathway to graduation, I am proud of how diligently I worked toward my degree,” Saucier says. “I am honored to have been recognized for my academic achievements by this award.”
