Lacy Greening

“Industrial engineers get to solve problems and optimize processes within essentially every industry,” says Lacy Greening.

The desire to provide real-world solutions to everyday problems led the early career researcher to hone in on supply chain engineering.

Greening joins the School of Computing and Intelligence, part of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, as an assistant professor in industrial engineering. The rapid growth of the program and the quality of both the school’s faculty and students led her to pursue her new role at ASU.

She received her doctoral degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology under the supervision of Alan Erera. During her doctoral studies, she was a Dwight D. Eisenhower Transportation Fellow, collaborated with The Home Depot, and served as a Research Scientist Intern with Amazon’s Middle Mile Planning Research and Optimization Sciences group.

After arriving, Greening will start by teaching IEE 461 Production Control. She will also continue her research. Her current work is focused on solving challenging logistics and transportation problems within e-commerce fulfillment. As she gets settled, she seeks to expand her efforts to include the study of how to make supply chains more sustainable and resilient.

As a football fan, Greening is excited that ASU has joined the Big 12. The cycling enthusiast also looks forward to exploring the hundreds of miles of bike lanes and trails that wind through the Valley of the Sun.
