Impact Award + Outstanding Graduate, Fall 2024

Po-Heng “Peter” Ho

Po-Heng “Peter” Ho chose the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University for the rigorous academic programs and strong research focus. In addition, Arizona provides excellent opportunities in the semiconductor and technology sectors, which aligns with his academic goals and career pursuits.

“Electrical engineering is multidisciplinary by nature and offers diverse opportunities,” Ho says. “The variety lets me develop a broader skill set and align my studies with my interests to contribute to technological advancements.”

Ho credits his academic and personal growth to Kexin Li, an assistant professor of electrical engineering in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, part of the Fulton Schools.

“She introduced me to the field of semiconductor compact modeling and device physics and extended opportunities to get involved in different projects,” he says. “I gained a lot of experience with the technical part of my studies and as a future researcher.”

Ho highlights supplemental experiences working on Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative and the Summer Research Initiative projects that enabled him to collaborate with faculty researchers and develop insights on graduate student life. These initiatives are experiences that he urges all Fulton Schools students to explore.

Beyond the classroom, Ho’s passion for electrical engineering has been enhanced as a member and outreach chair for ASU’s branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and through an impactful internship with semiconductor manufacturer TSMC, where he was part of the first cohort of interns in the United States at its Arizona facilities.

“Throughout my academic and professional experiences, I’ve grown into someone who can identify problems, analyze them from different perspectives and devise effective solutions,” Ho says. “These skills have not only strengthened my confidence but also prepared me to adapt and excel in any situation I face.”

As his undergraduate academic experience comes to a close, Ho plans to pursue his master’s degree in electrical engineering through the Accelerated Master’s degree program at ASU.

“My degree will enable me to develop technologies that address real-world problems,” he says. “I am excited to contribute to advancements that enhance connectivity, sustainability and overall quality of life driving meaningful progress that benefits communities.”
