Outstanding Graduate, Fall 2025
Ryan Dinville
From his first line of code, Ryan Dinville knew software engineering was more than syntax. It was a way to turn logic into innovation.
“I took a Python class and found I really enjoy programming,” Dinville says. “I knew I was on the right path when the concepts started coming easily to me.”
Dinville graduates this December with a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence, part of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University. As an online student based in Denver, he was drawn to ASU’s reputation for empowering remote learners.
“I chose ASU for the flexibility of an online degree in software engineering,” he says. “It allowed me to pursue my education on my own schedule and still be part of a community focused on innovation.”
While completing his degree, Dinville served as an undergraduate teaching assistant and helped lead team-based projects, experiences that strengthened both his technical and leadership skills.
“Leading some of the teams came more naturally than I expected,” he says. “Being a team leader is something I’ll take with me from my time in the Fulton Schools.”
He also credits lecturer Assistant Teaching Professor Pranut Jain for helping him grow as a student and professional.
“Dr. Jain gave me the opportunity to become a teaching assistant,” Dinville says. “That experience helped me build confidence in communicating complex concepts and supporting others.”
“As both Ryan’s professor and his mentor when he served as a teaching assistant, I’ve experienced his excellence firsthand,” Jain says. “He was a top student who actively participated in discussions, and he went on to become a teaching assistant who genuinely cared about helping his peers succeed. The students he helped consistently praised his ability to guide them. He is the definition of an outstanding graduate.”
Dinville’s capstone project, developed in collaboration with NASA, gave him the chance to combine innovation and teamwork in a real-world setting. His team created an augmented reality web app designed to engage the public with NASA content.
After graduation, Dinville plans to begin his software engineering career in the Denver metropolitan area, where he hopes to take on rewarding work that keeps him learning and problem-solving.
“Engineering is exciting because it’s a field with no limits,” he says. “I enjoy the challenge and the reward of solving complex problems and knowing that what I create could make a difference in people’s lives.”
