Outstanding Graduate, Fall 2020

Brooke Logan

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Brooke Logan moved to Arizona in 2013 and began studying at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in 2016. She then continued her education at Arizona State University so she could stay close to her family.

She found her niche in civil engineering.

“I chose civil engineering because it deals with the natural and built environment and will allow me to contribute to improving my community,” Logan says. “I love anything having to do with math or problem-solving. That’s what initially drew me toward a career in engineering. Civil engineering impacts everyone.”

One of Logan’s favorite experiences during her civil engineering studies was her senior design project, where she worked on a multidisciplinary design team to develop a plot of vacant land for residential, commercial and recreational land uses.

Outside of school, Logan volunteered at Sunshine Acres Children’s Home, tutoring children in math and science.

“I strive to pass on my joy of learning to the kids I assist,” she says. “It is my goal to continue to give back to the community after graduation by volunteering my time to tutoring kids. They are our future. It’s important that kids have role models that are both men and women to share their excitement for STEM fields and show them that they are capable of anything.”

Logan is an alumna of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She was also a part of the National Science Foundation Academic Success and Professional Development Scholarship program in Fall 2019 and Spring 2020.

After graduation, she will be starting a new job as a traffic engineer at Burgess & Niple, an engineering and architecture firm in Tempe. She hopes to one day earn her Professional Engineer license.

“Graduating from the Fulton Schools was one of the most challenging and fulfilling experiences of my life,” Logan says. “Engineering has made me realize how much I enjoy learning, and how much I don’t yet know but have the opportunity to learn in the future.”
