ASU students will compete to put AI in the cockpit

A group of ASU engineering faculty members and students are among those working to bring AI into the realm of aviation. In a collaboration with Honeywell Aerospace Technologies and the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence, part of the Fulton Schools, a new competition titled AI Challenge for Pilot Assist will form teams of students led by faculty members to take on some of today’s common aviation challenges. Computer science and engineering Professor Gail-Joon Ahn and Assistant Professor Jia Zou will lead the efforts involving four teams that will receive up to $10,000 in research funding to participate in the competition.
